Beyonce recorded 100 songs to create the masterpiece that is ‘Cowboy Carter’

My process is that I typically have to experiment. I enjoy being open to have the freedom to get all aspects of things I love out and so I worked on many songs.  I recorded probably 100 songs. Once that is done, I am able to put the puzzle together and realize the consistencies and the common themes, and then create a solid body of work.

Imagine having that much dedication to excellence.

She understands that in order to create a masterpiece, you have to experiment.

You have to create raw, messy art, sift through the creation and be OK with the fact that some of the things you create won’t make the cut.

The thing is, excellence is close friends with experimentation.

Excellence knows that not every idea, draft or sample will make the final cut.

In the world of digital creation, be it course creation, eBooks, autotune, or design, it’s tempting to adopt the “done is better than perfect” mindset.

But what if you took the time to experiment and iterate on your ideas before rushing them to market?

What if you were willing to leave outlines, recordings, and works in progress on the cutting room floor?

Imagine what might happen if you fell in love with the process of experimenting for the sake of expression, not perfection.

Trusting that this is the process of developing a solid body of work.

Who knows, if you applied this mindset to your work, you just might be the Queen Bey of your own lane
